Hong Kong, 25th August, 1899.

Sir,

Adverting to my letter of the 30th June last, addressed to His Excellency the Governor, and to your reply of the 15th ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that the amended scheme therein referred to was submitted to the Jubilee General Committee on the 15th instant and unanimously approved of by it.

The Executive Committee has been authorized to carry out the scheme and hopes that a commencement will be made at an early date with the erection of the Hospital and Quarters on the Barker Road site and of the Nursing Institute as an extension of the existing staff Quarters in High Street.

I have to thank His Excellency the Governor on behalf of the Committee for having been pleased to give the scheme his approval.
